HOW DO I CHOOSE WHICH SCHOOL TO STUDY AT FOR MAKEUP?
Start by researching makeup training facilities. Trainers/Educators at these facilities should be working artists in the makeup industry with extensive experience and an up-to-date portfolio. Meet your trainers/educators before you enrol to discuss course options and training the format. This will give you a feel for their experience and industry knowledge. Discuss the makeup kit you will receive during training as it is important that professional products are used at all times. Kohl does not believe in “student kits”, all kits and products are on par with what is relevant to the working industry. You can only become a professional if you are taught by professionals using professional tools. View the training manuals and how often the training programme are updated. We work in an ever-changing industry and your training facility must be on trend and up-to-date with all skills and techniques.
The standard of work delivered by past and current students will give you an accurate indication of what can be expected and the standard of training you will receive. View the facilities to ensuring the environment is up to a professional standard. This is a portfolio based industry and part of our training at Kohl is assisting students in building their portfolio. Portfolios are photographed by a professional photographer teaching students, model sourcing, creating concepts, design and implementation, working with a team, how their work reads on camera and creating industry standard book-worthy work.
Follow and view social media pages as this is updated most often and will give you a good indication of what is currently being taught at the facility. You will be able to view the quality of work by students and trainers. Ensure images that are used on websites and social media are not stock images but are actual work being produced by the facility. Stock images can be very deceiving. Kohl Academy® will NEVER use stock images.
